Who is Óskímon?
Writing a "who am I?" text is a bit complicated. What defines a person?
Some have opinions about astrology and star signs
I was born on the 22nd of October 1981. I don't now at what time, I would have to ask my parents. Well, that makes me a Libra born in the year of the rooster. I don't believe in that kind of stuff myself, probably because I refuse to accept that I'm not more special than sharing personal qualities and good and bad days with 1/12th of the human race. Some might say that what I just wrote sounded like a "typical Libra". To those I would like to say [censored]!Do schools, education and jobs define a person?
In that case, I went to the Commercial Collage of Iceland (international stream), then I graduated with a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Reykjavík and now I'm taking my masters degree in Computer Systems Engineering at DTU (the Technical University of Denmark).I have spent most of my life in schools, so the jobs I have worked are part time jobs or summer jobs and have probably not have as much impact on my person. I have for example worked as a butcher, as a book-keeper/office worker and as a system designer/programmer.
"You are what you hang with"
You know, I can totally buy into that. At this moment in time, I just hang with my boyfriend Einar. He is taking the same degree I am. We do have a whole lot in common, so I guess I can very well be put to that phrase up there. At the moment, that is about it. I don't have many friends here in Denmark jet. Back home in Iceland, I have some great ones, which I cannot wait seeing again. Until then I guess I'll have to make the best of on-line chatting. What about residence?
Does the place you live have an impact on you? I guess it does. At this moment I live in the cute town of Lyngby in Denmark. It's a Copenhagen suburb and has around 20.000 inhabitants. The rest of my life I have lived in Reykjavík, the capitol of Iceland and Kópavogur, a suburb of Reykjavík. In an international standard those places would be considered relatively small. I don't think I would be able to live in a "real" small town for too long. I do like visiting quiet places for a little while, but in the long run I do need the comforts and facilities cites have to offer. The clothes make the man!
...and the man makes the clothes! Is this the chicken and the egg all over again? I don't know. I doubt I would be accused of being much of a lady. I guess I'm what they call "low maintenance", as I don't really use make-up unless I'm going somewhere special and I usually don't do anything with my hair other than just combing it. I don't carry jewelry, except for d20's or rocks on a string around my neck. I think I pull it off though. That being said, I only ware dresses and skirts, except when I'm exercising. It's not a statement of any kind, I just fill most comfortable in that kind of clothing and I always have.
Hobbies and interests! They must have something saying in what kind of a person you are.
Yes, I would at least like to think that my interests matter. I don't think life would be much fun if I didn't enjoy doing anything. The nerd part of me enjoys all kinds of computer related things. I am a big computer game person, but somehow there has been a big slump in games I find interesting lately. Those games are for example kings quest, space quest, heroes quest larry, monkey island, sam & max, day of the tentacle, full throttle.... etc. Walk-walk-kill games got old with Wolfenstein 3D and The Sims are for people who didn't play enough house as kids.
I do also enjoy programming and making systems for myself if I can make the time. I'm a role play nerd as well and I play D&D whenever I get the chance. That hasn't been often since I moved to Denmark. I also enjoy board-games and reading. I like books with dragons, wizards and elves particularly or books with fingernail gnawing plots.
I'm a health-freak on an endless search for the perfect body. I go to the gym 6 days a week and I do enjoy it a lot. Jump-up-and-down classes with hyperactive, screaming ladies don't excite me more than a punch in the pancreas, so I lift weights and do cardio on my own. Back in Iceland I trained karate and I do miss it a lot. I only had the orange belt, but I'm going to start training again as soon as I'll return to the land of the midnight sun. I like rollerblading and playing squash, which I do when I get a chance to.
Interestingly enough, I also have an artist within. Sometimes it wakes up and then I might do all kinds of stuff. I have for example been known to draw, paint, write songs and lyrics, melt wax, sculpt, use pastel colors and make mosaics. Recently I found the joy of designing and sowing fabulous clothes, which I will without a doubt do more of in the future.
Like most people, I enjoy good music, and rock, metal and punk in particular. When I grow up and find time, I really want to learn how to play the bass.
